# Restylane Dermal Fillers in Rutherfordton, NC

## Restylane Dermal Fillers in Rutherfordton

At Foothills Healthcare & Aesthetics, we use the Restylane collection of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Restylane is one of the longest-established filler families available in the United States, and the collection includes several formulations engineered for different tissue depths and different jobs on the face — softer, more flexible gels for delicate areas like the lips and tear troughs, and firmer, more structured gels for lifting the midface or defining the jawline and chin. Having the full collection available means your injector can select the product that suits each area rather than trying to make one product do everything.

Filler treatment at our Rutherfordton office begins with a conversation, not a syringe. We look at your face as a whole, discuss what is bothering you, and build a plan that fits your anatomy, your timeline, and your budget.

## What dermal fillers do and how hyaluronic acid works

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your body already produces. It sits in the skin and connective tissue and holds many times its own weight in water, which is what gives youthful skin its cushion and bounce. With age, the face loses hyaluronic acid along with fat, collagen, and bone volume. The result is not just lines — it is deflation. Cheeks flatten, the midface descends, hollows appear under the eyes, the corners of the mouth turn down, and the jawline softens.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are gels made from a stabilized, non-animal form of that same molecule. Injected beneath the skin, they physically replace lost volume, support tissue that has descended, and draw in water to hydrate the area. Because the molecule is one the body recognizes, it is gradually metabolized over time. That also means hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if an adjustment is ever needed — a meaningful safety feature that permanent fillers do not offer.

## Areas we treat

- **Lips.** Hydration, definition of the vermilion border, correction of asymmetry, and subtle volume. Lip treatment is highly individual and we work conservatively.
- **Cheeks and midface volume.** Restoring the fullness that supports the entire lower face. Midface support often improves the folds and hollows below it.
- **Nasolabial folds.** The lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth, softened by a combination of direct correction and midface support.
- **Marionette lines.** The lines from the corners of the mouth toward the chin that can create a downturned appearance.
- **Under-eye hollows.** The tear trough area, treated with a soft, low-water-binding product and a light hand. Not every patient is a candidate here, and we will tell you if you are not.
- **Jawline and chin definition.** Structure along the mandible and projection at the chin to sharpen the profile and the transition between face and neck.

## Full facial balancing and correction

Faces age as a unit, and treating one line in isolation often produces a result that looks off. Full facial balancing means assessing proportion, symmetry, and support across the whole face, then sequencing treatment so that each area is addressed in a sensible order — often starting with structural support in the midface or jawline before refining the areas that depend on it.

We do not sell fixed packages. Your plan is built around your facial anatomy, your goals, and what is realistic to accomplish in one visit versus over several. Some patients want one area refreshed. Others prefer to stage a broader plan over months. Both are reasonable, and your injector will be straightforward with you about what a given amount of product can and cannot accomplish.

## How long results last and what maintenance looks like

Longevity depends on the specific Restylane product used, the area treated, how much product was placed, and your individual metabolism. Generally, lip filler tends to be metabolized faster than filler placed in less mobile areas, and firmer products placed deeper for structural support tend to last longer than soft gels placed superficially. Many patients find their results hold somewhere in the range of six to eighteen months depending on those factors.

Maintenance usually means a touch-up before the result has fully faded rather than starting over from scratch, which often requires less product over time. We typically schedule a follow-up two to four weeks after your first treatment to assess the settled result and decide whether any refinement is warranted.

## Fillers vs Botox and Dysport: what is the difference

They solve different problems. Neurotoxins such as [Botox and Dysport](/services/botox-dysport) temporarily relax the muscles that create movement — the forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow's feet that appear when you animate your face. They do not add volume.

Dermal fillers do the opposite. They do not affect muscle activity; they restore volume that has been lost and provide structure and support to areas that have deflated or descended. A static hollow under the cheekbone will not improve with a neurotoxin, and a dynamic crease from squinting will not be corrected by adding filler on top of an active muscle.

Because they address separate concerns, many patients use both. Your consultation will cover which of your concerns is muscle-driven, which is volume-driven, and whether combining the two makes sense for you.

## What to expect

**Consultation.** We review your medical history, medications and supplements that affect bruising, any prior filler, and your goals. Your injector maps the plan and explains which Restylane products are being recommended and why.

**Treatment.** Most appointments take thirty to sixty minutes depending on the number of areas. A topical numbing cream is typically applied first, and most Restylane products also contain lidocaine. Product is placed with a needle or a blunt-tipped cannula depending on the area.

**Aftercare.** Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and significant heat exposure for about twenty-four hours. Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first night. Do not massage the treated areas unless instructed to.

**Swelling and bruising timeline.** Swelling is normal and usually peaks in the first day or two, then subsides over roughly three to seven days — lips tend to swell the most. Bruising, when it occurs, generally resolves within a week to ten days and can be covered with makeup after the first day. Plan any social event at least two weeks out so the result has time to settle.

## How pricing works

Filler pricing is customized to your treatment plan. The cost depends on which Restylane products are used and how much is needed for the areas being treated, so it is calculated and quoted during your consultation before anything is done. We do not publish prices, and you will never be asked to commit to treatment before you know the total.

## Your injector

All dermal filler treatments at Foothills are performed by **Ashley Haley, RN**, an experienced aesthetic injector. Ashley approaches injectables with an emphasis on facial anatomy and conservative, proportional results, and she will tell you honestly when an area is not a good candidate for filler or when a different approach would serve you better.

Ready to talk about it? Book a consultation and we will build a plan around your face.

## Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Restylane fillers last?

It depends on which Restylane product is used, the area treated, how much product is placed, and your metabolism. Filler in mobile areas such as the lips is typically metabolized faster than product placed deeper for structural support. Many patients find results hold somewhere in the range of six to eighteen months.

Does filler treatment hurt?

Most patients tolerate it well. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment and most Restylane products also contain lidocaine. You may feel pressure or a brief pinch during injection. Depending on the area, product may be placed with a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula.

What is the downtime?

There is no required downtime, but expect some swelling that usually peaks in the first day or two and settles over roughly three to seven days, with lips swelling the most. Bruising, when it happens, generally resolves within a week to ten days. Plan any event at least two weeks after treatment.

How is filler different from Botox?

Neurotoxins such as Botox and Dysport temporarily relax the muscles that create movement lines like frown lines and crow's feet. Fillers do not affect muscle activity — they replace volume that has been lost and add structure and support. Many patients use both because they address different concerns.

Am I a candidate for dermal filler?

Most healthy adults bothered by volume loss, folds, or a lack of definition are potential candidates. Filler is not appropriate for everyone, including during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with certain infections or autoimmune conditions, or where the anatomy makes an area higher risk. Your injector will review your history and tell you honestly if an area is not a good fit.

What does dermal filler cost?

Pricing is customized to your treatment plan. Cost depends on which Restylane products are used and how much is needed for the areas being treated, so your total is calculated and quoted during your consultation before any treatment begins.
